What are your current requirements for participation in unassigned ED call?  Current requirements for response time (to the ED or to a private patient when called)?  Do you require members to live/practice within a certain distance of the facility?  Have your guidelines relative to these questions changed recently or are changes being considered?

Below is an excerpt from the Columbus Regional Rules & Regs. A provider's residence to hospital drive time is to be included in the stated timelines. a. In the case of Active Medical Staff members, a physician on call must be physically present in the hospital within 30 minutes when deemed necessary. This group will include OB/GYNs, Pediatricians (for high risk deliveries), General Surgeons, and Anesthesiologists. b. All other physicians on call must be physically present in the hospital within 45 minutes when deemed necessary, unless the case is deemed to be non-life threatening.
